The company recently released the findings of a scoping study for the project, the findings of which suggest that the project is economically viable. Construction could cost as much as US$650 million and create 2,500 person years of employment.

The unemployment rate was 5.4 per cent in August, ticking up for the first time in seven months, Statistics Canada reported in its most recent labour force survey on Friday.
