The latest report on job vacancies, issued by Statistics Canada for the fourth quarter of 2021, shows construction industry employers needing to fill 69,000 jobs – more than double the number they needed to fill at the end of 2019.

The battery facility will supply Stellantis plants in North America and will employ about 2,500 people. Construction is set to start this year, with a goal of being fully operational by 2025.

The project will merge seven care locations, currently leased and spread across Ottawa, into a single, state-of-the-art, purpose-built site on CHEO’s main Smyth Road campus. 

CP Rail and Teamsters Canada Rail Conference announced early Tuesday that they have agreed to final and binding arbitration to end a work stoppage that began on the weekend.

Construction on the solvent plant at Electra Battery Materials Corporation’s cobalt refinery in Northern Ontario is on track to be completed in December. The work is only the first phase of a four-stage project at the site.
