Construction crews push to make parking lot field hospitals patient-ready
Parking−lot field hospitals can be built in as little as two weeks, have anywhere from 40 to 93 beds and are connected to the hospital by covered walkways. The temporary buildings have their own heating, cooling, air filtration and permanent plumbing for washrooms and showers.
Construction sheds 2,900 jobs in December
The industry ended 2020 with an employment loss. For the entire year, construction employment is down 80,000 jobs, or 5.4 percent, and the threat of a partial industry closure in Ontario only leaves the industry in a more precarious position.
