The project is the first step in the process to widen the highway from two lanes to four between Arnprior and Renfrew. Aecon Construction Ontario East will perform the work.

Construction of the infrastructure network is expected to be up and running with service expected to start through the second half of 2022. These projects are valued at a combined $21.2 million. 

The order to demolish the century-old building was given in December. A newly released report from the city’s Chief Building Official, however, shows the rationale for the decision may have been cemented much sooner.

Responsibility for the province’s first aid program is currently shared between the Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development and the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board. A new proposal would see the MOL assume sole control of the first-aid mandate.

Enwave, which provides heating and cooling for buildings from a central plant, was acquired by Brookfield Infrastructure in 2012 from the City of Toronto and Borealis, the infrastructure investment arm of the OMERS pension plan.
