Premier Doug Ford’s order to temporarily shut down all non-essential businesses to further limit the spread of the COVID-19 virus will not touch construction activities—at least for the time being.

Construction, for now, remains open in Ontario. The Premier singled out those companies in the industry for failing to provide proper hygiene, and empowered workers to walk off sites if they felt conditions were unsanitary.

MPs have been recalled to Ottawa on Tuesday to vote on the proposed $82-billion emergency support package.
