Report: industry must bolster social, emotional skills to attract under-represented groups
A report prepared by The Conference Board of Canada found that the industry is significantly lacking in skills such as critical thinking and emotional intelligence that are essential for closing communication gaps among workers from different generations and varying backgrounds.
Study: one-fifth of apprentices complete training on time
A report by Statistics Canada looked at apprenticeship completion rates between 2008 and 2016. It found that those apprentices who trained in higher-paying trades and those training in fields relating to their trades were most likely to complete their programs.
EllisDon launches community sponsorship program

National employment gains slow, while provincial trends continue to vary
Statistics Canada’s latest Labour Force Survey (LFS), conducted during the week of November 8th to 14th, shows a gain of 0.3% in industry employment for the month. Employment rose by 4,300 workers from 1,438,000 in October to 1,442,000 in November.
